Prudent Advice For Girls

Prudent Advice – a gem of a book,

with a subtitle of:  Lessons for my baby daughter

and a 2nd subtitle:  Life Lessons for every woman.

I bought a few of these on Amazon.  A few because I know what a great gift it will make, over and over. I encourage my daughters to be able to be independent. One never knows. I don’t have to encourage them to be smart or kind- they already are. My sisters are a lifeblood. My mother is and always has been out there in front of us leading the way – just by living her life the way she does. She’ll be 80 this month. How can that be?

Recently we got a several women in my family together:

I call that a caja de gatos, or “box of kittens.”  When my girls were little, when my kids were little, we would climb on my bed and read and talk and snuggle and giggle for hours. We were like a box of kittens, minus the claws.

But back to the book – it contains 500 mini-lessons running the gauntlet of ethical advice, kindness, thinking for oneself, seeing beauty in everything and everyone – especially on the inside.  The author’s aim was to help girls/women develop into well rounded, sophisticated women.

The author lightheartedly quips that “it’s a collection of advice of questionable importance to share with my daughter before we grow up.” I like that the mom is still growing.

I’m sure you’ll enjoy it if you have any girls in your life.

Needing more than a little prudent advice for girls? If you are an empty nest mom looking to continue your education,Scholarships4Moms can help you get by without much financial burden.

Girls, girls, girls, they make the world go round and hold up the families of this world.  Love ‘em.

When the world around them gives girls mixed messages, it is nice to have a counter point. Nothing better than a group of beautiful girls.

I so agree with your prudent advice to girls, girls that have learned how to be kind, nice, thoughtful, fun etc.can sure make a big difference in the world. I tell my boys one of the most important things to consider when getting married is what kind of a mother she will be.

Very good advice. Thanks, Diane. I think it will be a tall order for one to live up to the kind of mother you’ve been to your boys. They’re lucky.

Oh good. Scholarships are always a good thing to know about. They’re how I got my education. And the book? It’s a gem.

I love this type of book – a little bit of wisdom about many facets of life! Perfect for gifts!

That is a lovely photo of the women in your family – four generations :)

Scholarships for moms is a great idea and resource. I was shy one semester of graduation when my husband got a job in another state and we moved. We already had two children by that point. Paying for college became a burden because transferring credits to a new school really can set you back. You have to start paying for classes you already took in your former university. Ouch!

I hear you Robin. I have a friend from work who was married to a man in Reserves and every time she’d get started with a university – he’d be transferred. She was so disheartened by it. A supporting role in life can really put a woman’s own dreams and aspirations, not to mention talents and unique abilities on hold.

  6. What a fabulous picture. My household has been an “all boy” affair… boys, boys, and all their friends…

And that little book? Some of those lessons wouldn’t be so bad for boys either…
